100cm x 100cm Mixed Media Oil Painting. Dusk Burbage Moor.

Looking and trying to remember the moment before darkness, what are the colours I  see. Peering intently at the moorland, trying to understand the influence of the blue spectrum as the last of the suns light disappears, the purkinje effect, a moment of melancholy..

Back in the studio it is really interesting to discover what I have created out of doors. Particularly finding the paintings where I think I have been in the zone

Strong cold wind, dark heather and pale distant fields. Not a great feeling of spring around the corner.

Wind building over the daylight hours and getting colder. Trying to keep the work fresh, while adding new colours to my palette.

Mixed media painting on 90cm x 60cm canvas, inspired by the forms created by the quickly shifting showers across the open moorland. The variety of colours seen within the rain and clouds is stunningly beautiful.

Remnants of winter remain and the wind carries heavy showers across the moors, but these clear to reveal brilliant light and warmth.                                                                                     Acrylic painting on 90cm x 60cm canvas.

I really started to feel spring has arrived here today. Bright, fluffy white clouds, cerulean blue sky, a strong breeze, then suddenly indigo blue clouds arrive overhead and deposit hail and sleet, brilliant.

I have just been reorganising the gallery and paintings in my studio, I decided to add some of the most successful images of mixed media and oil paintings of seascapes I painted last year, to my blog. It was very inspiring looking at these pieces again and all will be exhibited in the Open Studios event at the end of April and the beginning of May
